Jennifer Cavounidis has worked at various research institutes in Greece, including the Employment Observatory and the Centre for Planning and Economic Research (KEPE). She has researched various phases of the migration experience of Greece beginning with the massive inflows of the 1990s and continuing with the integration of second-generation youth, then the exodus of well-educated Greeks subsequent to the economic crisis, and more recently the massive inflows of asylum-seekers. She has published dozens of articles in international journals such as the British Journal of Sociology, International Migration Review, International Migration, and the Journal of Refugee Studies, as well as numerous books (most recently The Emigration of Greeks and Diaspora Engagement Policies for Economic Development). She has also taught sociology courses at the Athens University of Economics and Business. She studied at Stanford University (B.A.), Boston University (M.A.), and the London School of Economics (Ph.D.).
