Pavlos Baltas is a demographer (PhD) and researcher (Grade C) in the Institute of Social Research (IKE) at the Greek National Center for Social Research (EKKE). He has worked at the Observatoire Démographique Européen (ODE) of the Institut National d’Études Démographiques (INED) in Paris and on several research projects on Demographic Analysis, Population Projections, Data Analysis and Thematic Mapping. He has been an adjunct lecturer at the University of Bordeaux, the University of Thessaly, the Athens University of Economic and Business, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the University of Aegean. His current research interests focus on the areas of Demographic Analysis, Population Geography and the use of Big Data (Satellite images and Social Media Data) in the social sciences. He holds a PhD in Demography, a MSc entitled “Population, Développement, and Prospectives” and a MSc entitled “Planning and Regional Development.”
