The RaRE conference brought together a distinguished group of speakers to discuss the critical issue of refugee education in Greece.
The keynote lectures were delivered by Professor Richard F. Mollica, Director of the Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma; Dr. Eugene F. Augusterfer, Co-director of HPRT; and Professor Giampaolo Nicolais from Sapienza Università di Roma. The conference began with opening remarks from Professor Georgiadou, President of the National Centre for Social Research; Professor Chrysohoou from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (ELIDEK); General Secretary I. Katsaros from the Ministry of Education, Research, and Religious Affairs; and representatives from the Ministry of Migration and Asylum, including Mr. Georgiadis, and the Ministry of Development and Investments, represented by Mrs. Papadopoulou.
Three panel discussions followed, expertly moderated by Jennifer Cavounidis, George Moschos, and Korina Hatzinikolaou. The conference concluded with a roundtable discussion on “Resilience, Mobility, and School Adaptation: Transitions for Refugee Students.” Discussants included Heracles Moskoff, the Secretary General of the Secretariat for Vulnerable Populations at the Ministry of Migration and Asylum, Giorgos Simopoulos from UNICEF Greece, Galina Altouhova, Angelo Vallianatos, and Dr. Tsovili from UNHCR-Greece, the UN Refugee Agency.
